HP Pop-up Appears While Playing Guild Wars
When I play Guild Wars, a pop-up minimizes the game and then i must close the popup and reopen Guild Wars. I dont know how to get rid of this pop-up so any help would be appreciated. Here is the pop-up:

You need to kill the process thats in place to activate the pop-up, your best bet is to contact HP support, this is why I hate pre-built machines

The easy way to do it
Click Start, Run
Type MSCONFIG
Click OK
Click STARTUP tab
uncheck the process(es) you want to get rid of and restart

yeah I assume too much for a gaming board .. next time you see that pop-up hold down ctrl+alt and hit delete- start ending processes one at a time that are'nt under the username SYSTEM until that HP box disappears.. then msconfig and uncheck, restart

Mustache: That is a VERY bad idea because not all the non-system processes are able to be "killed". Doing that can crash the system.
Hypernecrofear: Can you go into msconfig and take a screenshot of your startup programs? We should be able to tell you what the program is then.
So you don't have to go into Paint and crop it, hold down the Alt key with the msconfig window active and then press Print Screen. It will take a sceen of only the active window (msconfig). If you have a long list of programs that startup, scroll down after taking the first screen (and saving it) and take another screen.
The program, however, may not be in the list. If it isn't we're back to square one.

Ok well that's a lot of programs that are running. You should be able to speed up your computer by turning most of those off. You can uncheck most everything, but I would reccomend you keeping these checked:- ccApp
- UrlLstCk
- SNDMon
- logonstudio (optional)
- CursorXP (optional)
- ctfmon
- TabUserW.exe
- Updates from HP
Restart your computer and when the dialog box saying you've used msconfig pops up, check the checkbox and click NO.

I just read up on the Updates from HP thing. You can disable that. I thank that's what's causing your problem. If it isn't I'll look around some more.
Here's the page I read:

As I mentioned the best option for you is to call HP support, just unticking random start up items in Msconfig is a bad idea. The last thing we want is for you to return/ or worse not return saying "You killed my Pc, help me fix it"
Try to see if HP can help, afterall that is what they for.
EDIT - Mustache Mayhem, this may be a guild wars forum, but this is a technical sub forum, and a few of us know what we are talking about, so don't just assume I dont know anything. As I have said do not just randomly kill start up processes, this may be fine in a custom built machine but not for a pre-built, that HP pop up could be critical(most proably not) but as I have never owned a pre built machine I gave him the best advice. Think before you post. Next bit of rubbish like that will be deleted. - cannonfodder

All the startup programs I listed to uncheck are fine to turn off. Even the one I just posted about. His comp shouldn't be in any danger. But yes, if what I suggested doesn't work, try and get up with a human at HP.

Yes, that is true. But it only activates because that program is running. Turn off the program and you shouldn't have that issue. Oh and 2 more posts before i become a Krytan Explorer.

sorry was out the other day.. I see the problem got fixed- course blind leading the blind- cannon I did'nt mean your post.. that's the perfect fix is just pick up the phone and let support deal with it.. but that was too hard for this guy so I gave him the next best thing- a simple step by step on getting rid of the box.. takes like maybe half a minute of his time
@ rip at least know your doing before you have someone stop half their proccesses in the registry.. that's the lamest thing ever seen- and no it's not a bad idea to stop processes using the taskbar manager.. nothing bad is gonna happen even if you stopped explorer.exe- just reboot worst case.. it'll give the guy a good idea on how to troubleshoot his own stuff
I post solutions to problems as I'm actually experienced in computers.. was'nt trying to be offensive but the op sounded like he was clueless when he wants everything handed on a silver plate.. common sense would have fixed his problem but it seems to be missing in alot of people nowdays

What the hell does that mean .. I guess you didn't know i don't know jack about computers and was asking how to do each thing. Im not very good with them so naturally, i need everything to be explained to me.. What you posted was very rude and unhelpful.

So, Hyper, how did it turn out? Does what I suggested work? If not, then maybe HP support would be the next step.

Yeah i stopped the update program and the pop-ups keep appearing... i was just asking some other gamers here on how they think they would solve it, before calling HP support. I dont pay for the phone bill you know.
